Firebird ICS 4.0.3 ROM Xperia Arc S

After waiting and waiting the update for Xperia arc s is out, this is the ICS 4.0.3 firmware. To be honest the stock rom i used so pretty laggy and slow so i decided to unlock my bootloader and try out the custom roms which are already appearing on the XDA forums.

The rom i’m using the Firebird v3.0 ICS rom and the ICS beta kernel provided with the rom, so far i’ve been using for a couple of days and i’m really impressed with this rom.

As you can see in the picture above this rom is based on the stock rom released by sony only just a week ago.

So when you first boot into the phone after installing the rom you can see the new style lockscreen which i must admit is quite nice.

Also if you are playing music at the time you will notice a nice little music player at the top where you can skip, play also displays the title and the cover for the song which is something i missed from the days of the iphone 3gs.

The menu style is still the same from the gingerbread stock rom which may dishearted most users who were hoping sony would change the style and bring a new look to the ICS.

Also the main homescreen is also the same from the gingerbread rom but with a few new widgets from ICS. The notification draw has had a revamp and also brings slide to discard feature, in the picture below you will notice the toggle widgets in the top bar which isn’t in the stock rom only in custom roms which again sony should have brought this feature to the stock rom.

The setttings menu also had a revamp and brings the new look from the ICS rom, the menu looks stylist and makes some options easier to get too.

There are many more features in the rom but this is a brief look over the rom. Below you will find a link to a video of the rom enjoy and thanks for reading.

Im back

Well peeps im back after nearly 2 years, been a good 2 years for games and tech im hoping to try and keep this web page more update but due to the lost of my easycap I can no longer do vids for gaming but still gonna keep the reviews up and running so stay tuned.

Metroid Other M

This game truly brings metroid back to its roots, metroid first came out in 1986 as a 2D side scroller and later in 2002 as a 3D game for the gamecube and finally in 2010 metroid other m brings the 2 together to bring the most anticipated game for the year.

Other m is set between Super metroid and Metroid fusion after fighting mother brain from super metroid, Samus is now on another mission to find out the mysterious goings on in a remote space station, meeting up with GF soldiers from her old platoon, you discover her past and what has been going on in the bottle ship.

This game is play by holding your Wii remote on the side, then held normally to see in 3D through Samus Visor, you still get the suit upgrades later in the game such as gravity suit for the super missile, which makes you want to play more just to find out more sweet upgrades. There are may new enemies to encounter along the way each with their own way of being killed (isn’t a case of running and blaster everything you see.). The graphics and sounds are brilliant to say the game is on the Wii and brings you into the atmosphere of the game.

Heres a video of the game enjoy:

Soft Modded Wii

Seeing i managed to get my easycap to work alot better now heres a video of my wii which is softmodded 4.2e enjoy:

Colin McRae Dirt 2

This game was released in September 2009, for most consoles. Dirt 2 was released after the death of Colin McRae in 2007 and still keeps that same style used in many other old Colin McRae games (first one i played was on the psone) you see many rally star names such as Ken Block, Dave Mirra, Tanna Foust who are officially sponsored by Dirt 2. The game has many new game styles compared to Dirt for first you travel around the world in a RV which is your menu to your game where you can select from viewing your cars to switching to online multiplayer games.

Recently I’ve noticed that most racing games now are becoming more challenging compared to just keeping your finger on the accelerator button and this game proves it, you need to time your turning and whilst keeping your eye on the throttle (this option can be turned off before each race) which makes this game more challenging. The graphics and details to the game are simply amazing most noticeable when racing in malaysia where mud just flies everywhere also any damages to the car.

Only dull side to the game is the lack of DLC also can feel a bit repetitive after a couple of hours in the game.

Heres a video:

Pigeon caught on forklift

Shock news today, at a local DIY store, managers are going that extra length to get decent staff members. After failing teaching ordinary people to work hard to deliver great service the company resort to another species…..the pigeon.

As you can see in the pictures below this one pigeon is caught driving a forklift for the company. lol

Easycap Update

After hours and hours of pissing about and trying to get the right settings and buying extra splitters for the audio, using the free software virtualdub to capture the video and adjust the size of the screen. I think i have now made a decent video using a £5 piece of tech (sound is a bit shite) so take a look peeps.

Google G1

Decided to pick me the google g1 (aka HTC Dream) the other day, after spending many hours rooting the phone and finding a good rom to run, i finally have an unlocked HTC Dream running 2.1 eclair. The phone is rooted and running a custom rom, seems to be running fine now i finally figured how to run apps from the sd card (not alot of space on the phone memory to run them from) Heres a video of the phone running, the phone isn’t lagging its the program that captures the live video capture.

Castle Smasher Iphone Review

Castle Smasher from Donut games is another sort of 8-bit style game making a little animation into a really fun and addictive game. The aim is to throw boulders at castles and soliders that defend the castle, using certain amounts of boulders you have to destroy the castle before moving onto the next level which makes the game a little more challenging.

The game has 3 game modes to set your fingers onto:

Challenges where the game style changes which may include shields, fireballs with only a limited amount of boulders to use.

Arcade play where its a simple case of getting through each level also with a option to add bonuses to the next level like extra solider or 1 extra boulder

And finally target practice where you can pratice to help you out in any other of the game modes.

Castle smasher is free for a limited time only so grab it while you can.

Iphone finally sorted

Finally decided to sort out all my apps out on the iPhone took some doing but worth it lol
